Printed Stretch Ceilings
Printed stretch ceilings, from open skies to bespoke artwork
With a printed stretch ceiling, an image becomes part of the architecture. A clear sky, a botanical pattern, a texture or your own artwork is reproduced across the membrane, giving a room a focal point without adding any structure.

An image printed across the membrane
A print sweep reveals artwork across the lit membrane. Any artwork, reproduction or photograph can be digitally printed on the film.

What is it?
A printed stretch ceiling is a stretch membrane that carries a graphic. The artwork can be applied across the whole ceiling or only inside a framed area, and it can be viewed in ambient light or backlit.
How it works
- You choose or supply artwork, and we review it for suitability at the size of your ceiling.
- The artwork is prepared for the exact dimensions of the measured ceiling and printed onto the membrane.
- The printed membrane is tensioned into the perimeter profile. If it is backlit, the image glows from within.
Key design characteristics
- Seamless graphic at room scale when the membrane width allows
- Works as a full ceiling or a framed feature panel
- Backlit versions bring colour and depth to the image
- Suits calm imagery as well as bold graphics
Benefits
- A strong focal point without extra construction
- Imagery can reflect the identity of a space, from a calm home to a branded retail area
- Combines graphic impact with the clean finish of a stretch ceiling
Practical considerations
- Image resolution and colour matching affect the result at large sizes. We review artwork before printing.
- Busy imagery can feel heavy in a small room, so scale and placement are worth discussing.
- Printed colours look different lit and unlit, which is why a sample or proof is recommended.

Lighting integration
Printed membranes can be viewed in ordinary room light or backlit for a luminous finish. Backlighting needs a suitable translucent membrane and lit void, planned in advance.
Architectural lighting optionsInstallation and maintenance
- A site visit and measurement come first, so the perimeter profile, any bulkheads and every light position can be planned before fabrication.
- The membrane is made to the measured room and tensioned into the profile on site, usually after wet trades and painting are complete.
- Because the ceiling sits below the structural slab, the available void depends on the room. Ask for a void check if you plan to add lighting behind the membrane.
- Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners.
- Keep sharp tools and hot work away from the membrane. Ask us about repairs rather than attempting one yourself.
